The phenyl ring on dehydro nisoldipine is hydroxylated by CYP2D6 to produce an intermediate compound, which then undergoes oxidation by CYP3A4 to form the final product, nisoldipine. This process leads to a higher degree of variability in the concentrations of dehydro-nisoldipine and its metabolite, nisoldipine.
