Description

Deoxyketoprofen is a synthetic nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandin, which is an important mediator of inflammation and pain. Deoxyketoprofen has shown to have anti-cancer properties in cell culture experiments. This drug also has antiviral effects against some types of viruses, such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), and may inhibit lipid peroxidation. Deoxyketoprofen binds to the soybean lipoxygenase enzyme and blocks the production of polyunsaturated fatty acids, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins.
