Deptropine is a drug that inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It is used to treat patients with chronic bronchitis, bowel disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. Deptropine has been shown to inhibit proliferation of cells in vitro in a dose-dependent manner. Deptropine also has an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting autophagy and inhibiting aldehyde groups from forming. The drug is effective for the treatment of hepatitis B virus infections and for prevention of organ transplant rejection.
