3-Desacetyl cefotaxime lactone is an antibiotic drug that is used to treat bacterial infections. It has a molecular weight of 300.3 and a solubility in water of 0.02%. 3-Desacetyl cefotaxime lactone is used to treat respiratory, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, skin, and bone and joint infections. It binds to the ribosomal subunit of bacteria by competitive inhibition and inhibits protein synthesis by preventing the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis. The drug also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.br>br>
3-Desacetyl cefotaxime lactone can be used in pharmaceuticals as a coating on medical devices such as catheters or stents, which may lead to reduced biofilm formation and improved device performance. This coating can also
