2,5-Diamino-2,3-dihydrothiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidine-7-(6H)-one is an inhibitor of nucleoside phosphorylase. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of myeloid leukemia cells in culture. This drug may have a potential use in the treatment of T-cell leukemia and other malignancies involving purine metabolism. 2,5-Diamino-2,3-dihydrothiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidine-7-(6H)-one is an analogue of 8-aminoguanine (8AG), which is a substrate for nucleoside phosphorylase.
