Description:

1,3-Dibromopropane is an antimicrobial agent that is activated by ester hydrolysis to form 1,3-dibromopropanol. It has been shown to have amoebicidal activity and has a high affinity for the receptor binding site on the surface of amoebae. This chemical has also been used as a solvent in n-dimethyl formamide and can be used as a flow system for nitrogen atoms. Other uses include analysis of chemical structures and cell culture.
