Description:
4,6-Dichloro-2-(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile is an amide compound that has been shown to have a fungicidal effect against certain fungi. It is also effective in the synthesis of glycinates, which are useful for pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. This compound can be prepared by cyclocondensation of ethyl orthoformate with triethyl orthoformate. The reaction is optimally carried out at 100°C. 4,6-Dichloro-2-(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of aminolysis products (amines).
