2,6-Dichloro-9-isopropylpurine is a hydrogenated purine derivative that belongs to the class of organometallic compounds. It is cytotoxic and causes significant cytotoxicity in colorectal carcinoma cells. The anticancer activity of 2,6-Dichloro-9-isopropylpurine may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis by cross-coupling with purines or by inhibiting the formation of hydrogen bonds between purines and their adjacent bases.
