Description:

S-(1,2-Dichlorovinyl)Cysteine hydrochloride is a reactive, toxic chemical that has been shown to be an inhibitor of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. It can cause oxidative injury in proximal tubule cells and lead to a decrease in ATP levels. S-(1,2-Dichlorovinyl)Cysteine hydrochloride also inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential and mitochondrial functions. This drug has been used as a substrate for analytical methods to measure cytosolic Ca2+ levels.
