Description:

Diethyl chloromaleate is an organic compound that is a cross-linking agent. It reacts with polyvinyl alcohol, fatty acid and inorganic acid to form a reaction product. Diethyl chloromaleate has been used as a cross-linking agent in the production of polyvinyl chloride, which is used for plastic products such as piping and vinyl flooring. Diethyl chloromaleate can also be used to produce dibutyl maleate, methyl ethyl maleate, and monocarboxylic acid by reacting with dimethyl fumarate. Nitrogen atoms are introduced into the molecule during this process. Diethyl chloromaleate reacts with carbon disulphide to form polycarboxylic acid during this process.
