Product Information
- 2,2-Difluoro-1-ethanamine hydrochloride
2,2-Difluoroethylamine hydrochloride is a chemical compound that can be used as a reagent for organic synthesis. It is an electron donor and reacts with boron trifluoride etherate in the presence of hydrochloric acid to produce 2-fluoroethanol. This reaction is thought to occur via the following steps: 1) intramolecular hydrogen transfer from one of the fluorine atoms to form a trifluoromethyl group; 2) chloride ion attack on the electron-deficient double bond; 3) nucleophilic attack by the other chloride ion on the carbon atom adjacent to the newly formed chlorine atom. The reaction time is fast and it can be completed in less than 30 minutes.
