3,7-Dihydro-3,7-dimethyl-6-[(5-oxohexyl)oxy]-2H-purin-2-one is a chemical compound that can act as an oxidant. It may be used in the analysis of water to determine its pH levels, oxidation products and chloride content. This compound is also able to decompose pentoxifylline into 3,7-dihydro-3,7-dimethylxanthine (DHX), which is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase. Irradiation of this compound with ultraviolet light results in the formation of hydroxide ions. The solution's pH level can be determined by titration with hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide.
