Product Information
- 1,8-Naphthyridine-2,7(1H,8H)-dione1,8-Naphthyridine-2,7-diol
2,7-Dihydroxy-1,8-naphthridine has been shown to dimerize in solution. The dimers are formed by hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl oxygen of one molecule and the amine nitrogen of another molecule. Dimers can be classified according to their geometry, which may range from linear to bent. The same computational methods that are used to study the structure of monomers may also be applied to study the structure of dimers. This molecule is a tautomeric compound and can exist in two different forms, either as a keto form or as an enol form. The keto form has a more stable hydrogen bond than the enol form, which is due to steric hindrance from the adjacent hydroxyl group on its oxygen side.
