Description

1,4-Dimethoxy-6-tetralone is a synthetic chemical that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It is a catalytic asymmetric synthesis with a chiral center at the tetralone ring. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in vivo and in vitro. 1,4-Dimethoxy-6-tetralone has also been used as an antibiotic and an antileukemic agent.
1,4-Dimethoxy-6-tetralone binds to DNA by means of protein nucleophiles and causes strand breaks. The compound's stereoselectivity makes it useful for the treatment of lymphocytic leukemia, which is caused by the accumulation of mutated DNA in blood cells.
