2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-benzoxazin-4-one is a monofluoride that is chiral. It can be obtained by the reaction of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-benzoxazine with trifluoromethyl chloride or trifluoroacetic acid. The XRD pattern of this compound exhibits diffraction peaks at 2θ values of 31.5° and 38.9° corresponding to the (111) planes of the trigonal pyramid and (002) plane of the octahedron, respectively. This compound has been used as a ligand in coordination chemistry studies for boron trifluoride etherate and trifluoride etherate reactions with chlorosilanes.
