Description:
2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-one is a dioxolane compound that can be used as a monomer in the polymerization of vinyl acetate with other vinyl compounds. It is also a ring-opening agent for the synthesis of methyl methacrylate from vinyl acetate and methacrylic anhydride. 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-one copolymerizes with amines to form polymers. It can also be used to prepare styrene copolymers by reacting it with styrene and chlorobenzene.
