1,7-Dimethyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-g]quinoxalin-2-amine is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to cause cancer in animals. This compound is metabolized by the liver and excreted through the urine. In humans, imidazoquinoxalines are excreted by both the lungs and kidneys. The carcinogenic effects of this compound have been observed in rats and mice fed a diet containing 1,7-dimethyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-g]quinoxalin-2-amine.
