The 6-Dimethylamino-1-hexanol is a carbonyl compound that is soluble in organic solvents and deionized water. It is used as an inhibitor of polymerization and exciplex formation in the production of polyurethanes. The 6-Dimethylamino-1-hexanol has been shown to be effective at reducing the chloride ion by one electron. This reduction may be due to its hydrophobic nature, which allows it to interact with the chloride ion more easily.
