Description:

N-[3-(3-Dimethylaminoacryloyl)phenyl]acetamide is an alkali metal salt that can be used as a catalyst or a phase transfer catalyst. It is soluble in water and has good solubility in organic solvents. The synthesis of this compound is accomplished by the reaction of acetamide with hydroxide, followed by the addition of zaleplon in ethyl alcohol, followed by the addition of an alkali metal hydroxide. Impurities such as metal hydroxides, acetamide, and phase transfer catalysts are removed by recrystallization from ethanol.
