2,7-Dimethylanthraquinone is a naturally occurring organic compound that can be found in flowers, formic acid, and acetylated sugars. It is an acidic dianion that reacts with ethylene to yield isoprene and yields, which can be used as an acetylating agent. 2,7-Dimethylanthraquinone can also be used to produce glucopyranoside and glucopyranose by reacting with formic acid or elemental analysis. This compound has been shown to react equivalently with sulfate ion.
