2,3-Dimethylbenzaldehyde is a chemical compound that has been used as a cancer treatment and to treat degenerative diseases. This compound inhibits serine protease activity by acylation reaction. 2,3-Dimethylbenzaldehyde also decreases the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation in chronic kidney disease. In addition, it has been shown to be effective against bowel disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis.
