Dibutyl-amidosulfenyl chloride is a carbamate that inhibits the enzyme that catalyzes the first step in arthropod development. Dibutyl-amidosulfenyl chloride is one of a number of carbamates that are used to control pests such as cockroaches and ants. This compound has been shown to be effective against certain species of pyrazolines, which are a type of arthropod. This compound also reacts with halide ions, such as chlorine or bromine, to form an alkylamine. The alkylamine is an acceptor in the catalytic cycle for the preparation of formulae containing carbamates.
