Di-n-butyl phosphorochloridate is an aliphatic hydrocarbon. It is a model compound used to study nucleophilic attack. Di-n-butyl phosphorochloridate is synthesized by reacting hydrogen fluoride with chloroform in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The molecule has two chlorine atoms: one on the hydroxyl group and one on the fluorine atom. The effective dose for this compound is 10 mg/kg, which can be administered orally or intravenously. Di-n-butyl phosphorochloridate causes malic acid to form from malonic acid when reacted with a hydroxyl group, which leads to cell death by apoptosis.
