4,4'-Dinitro-2-biphenylamine is an organic compound that is classified as a nitro compound. The compound has shown to be mutagenic and carcinogenic in animal models. It also induces DNA damage, which can lead to increased risk of cancer. 4,4'-Dinitro-2-biphenylamine inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Salmonella typhimurium by reacting with nitrogenase activity and causing its inhibition. 4,4'-Dinitro-2-biphenylamine also has an affinity for β-amyloid proteins, which may be due to its ability to form covalent bonds with thiol groups in proteins. This chemical also reacts with chloride ions to form ethylenediamine and nitric oxide, which are both reactive species that can cause DNA damage.
