Product Information

Name:
6,8-Difluoro-7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin
Synonyms:
  • F2MUMarina blue
Description:

6,8-Difluoro-7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin (6,8-DFMC) is a synthetic coumarin derivative that has been shown to inhibit the activity of phosphatases. This compound binds reversibly to phosphatases and can be used in diagnostic tests. 6,8-DFMC has been shown to bind specifically to recombinant proteins containing a consensus sequence for phosphatase binding sites. The binding affinity of this compound is higher than those of other coumarins. 6,8-DFMCl also inhibits the production of TNFα by human cells and has been shown to be effective against both tumor and non-tumor cells. This drug is structurally related to 4-methylumbelliferone (4MU), which has been shown to have anticancer effects.
