1,9-Dideocyforskolin is a diterpenoid metabolite of forskolin that can be found in plants. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase and thus increase the levels of malonyl-CoA, which is an allosteric effector for carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1) and promotes fatty acid oxidation. Dideocyforskolin also inhibits the enzyme adenylate cyclase, which reduces the intracellular levels of cAMP. These effects lead to increased fatty acid oxidation and reduced lipogenesis in adipocytes.
