2,6-Dimethylcyclohexylamine is a carbonyl compound that has a carbon atom with two attached hydrogen atoms and one attached nitrogen atom. It is an organic solvent that can be used in the synthesis of other chemicals. 2,6-Dimethylcyclohexylamine has been shown to react with aluminium chloride and methylcyclohexane to form an aluminium chloride adduct. This chemical is also able to form a multistep reaction with other molecules such as isomeric compounds and amines. The rate of this reaction increases when the temperature increases. 2,6-Dimethylcyclohexylamine will protonate at higher temperatures, which will affect its interaction with other molecules.
