Description:
2,3-Dihydroxybenzonitrile is a metabolite of benzonitrile. It is an organic solvent that has been shown to be metabolized to the inorganic form by cytochrome P450 and sulfate dehydrogenase. 2,3-Dihydroxybenzonitrile can also be converted into an amide or benzyl chloride by dehydration. It has been shown to transform into pesticides such as dinitrochlorobenzene and nitrophenols in the presence of light.
