Description:
2,3-Diphenyl-2,3-dihydroxybutane is a reactive compound that can be used as a polymerization initiator. It has been shown to be stable in the presence of radiation and proton beams. 2,3-Diphenyl-2,3-dihydroxybutane is also an acid with a pH of 3.5. The pH of this compound can be increased or decreased by adding or removing hydrogen ions. 2,3-Diphenyl-2,3-dihydroxybutane is soluble in organic solvents such as ethers and alcohols. Its molecular weight ranges from 213 to 217 g/mol. The 2,3-dihydroxybutane moiety has two phenyl groups at either end and one hydroxy group in the middle. This molecule is thermally stable and can be photoreduced by UV light with a wavelength range of 300 nm to 400
