Description:

1,10-Dibromodecane is a bifunctional molecule that can be used to form polymers with amide and ethylene diamine. This chemical has been shown to be of analytical value in the determination of chloride, a toxic gas that is found in chlorine and related compounds. The 1,10-dibromodecane is also used as a starting material for the synthesis of polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans. This molecule has been shown to be useful for transfection experiments in mammalian cells, because it does not show any cytotoxicity or mutagenicity. Hydrogen bonding between hydrogen atoms on one molecule and the hydroxyl group on another molecule have been observed in this chemical compound. The presence of nitrogen atoms are observed by the intramolecular hydrogen bonds that they form with other nitrogen atoms.
