Product Information
- 2-Isocyanato-1,4-Dimethoxybenzene
2,5-Dimethoxyphenyl isocyanate (DMPI) is a phenyl isocyanate that can be stabilized by electron withdrawing groups. It has a benzene ring with a chain of two methyl groups positioned on opposite sides. DMPI has a planar molecular geometry and exists in the form of an equilibrium between two conformations, one with the dihedral angle greater than 120 degrees and one with the dihedral angle less than 120 degrees. DMPI can bind to hydrogen bonds and form hydrogen bonds between different molecules. These properties make 2,5-Dimethoxyphenyl isocyanate useful as an intermediate in organic synthesis reactions.
