Description

Dibutyl amine is an organic base that is used in analytical chemistry as a sample preparation agent and as a reagent for the determination of residual chlorine. It is stable to hydrolysis, chemically inert, and has high thermal stability. Dibutyl amine has been shown to be able to dissolve proteins, including those with low solubility such as insulin or lysozyme. In this context, it can be used as a reaction solvent or to dilute acids or bases. The electrochemical detector can be used in its detection due to its ability to form an ion-pair with the analyte.
