Description

Dimethyl trisulphide is an organic compound that can be a byproduct of industrial processes. It is used as a solvent for the extraction of volatile compounds from water and soil samples, which can then be analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Dimethyl trisulphide has been shown to inhibit fatty acid oxidation and to reduce the activities of various enzymes. It also inhibits bacterial growth in wastewater treatment systems, but it can react with other chemicals to form toxic products.
