Description:
Di-n-Nonyl sulphide is a natural compound that has a reactive functional group. It is used in the manufacture of microcapsules and as a chemical intermediate. Di-n-Nonyl sulphide reacts with mercuric chloride to form mercaptosuccinic acid, which then reacts with silicon to form polysiloxanes. The reaction product varies depending on the type of silicon used. Silicon tetrachloride produces polydimethylsiloxane, while silicon tetraethoxide produces polydiethylsiloxane. Di-n-Nonyl sulphide can also react with potassium ions in solution to form hypochromic compounds.
