3,4-Dichlorobenzyl mercaptan is a yellow, volatile liquid that has been shown to be toxic to animals and humans. It is a sulfide compound that has been classified as an acid halide. 3,4-Dichlorobenzyl mercaptan is used as a pheromone in the sex attractant of some species of insects and moths.
