N,N-Diethylacetamide is a tetramethylurea derivative that has been used as a herbicide. It is structurally related to coumarin derivatives and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. N,N-Diethylacetamide has been found to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), nitric oxide, and prostaglandins in animal models. This compound also inhibits the activity of the p450 system, resulting in increased levels of hippuric acid. The chemical structure of this compound consists of a carbonyl group and an amide group that can form hydrogen bonding interactions.
