Description:

2,6-Difluoropyridine is a heterocyclic compound that can be used in organic synthesis. It can be synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction between 2,6-dichloropyridine and phenylboronic acid. The addition of fluorine to the 2,6-difluoropyridine ring has been shown to increase its nucleophilic reactivity and ability to undergo irreversible oxidation.
2,6-Difluoropyridine is structurally similar to pyridinium compounds such as covidin which are found in some antihelminthics. Covidin has been shown to have antiviral properties against the 2009 pandemic H1N1 influenza virus.
