Description:

2,2-Dimethylproppylboronic acid is a cross-coupling agent that is used in polymerization reactions. It is also a ligand for organometallic compounds and organometallic ions, such as an aryl halide. 2,2-Dimethylproppylboronic acid reacts with an alkyl substituent to form an acetal which can be hydrolyzed to form an alcohol. This reaction can be catalyzed by a metal ion. 2,2-Dimethylproppylboronic acid is soluble in solvents such as methanol and acetone and has a strong odor of acetaldehyde.
