- 2-[Dimethyl[4-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)phenyl]silyl]benzenemethanol
(2-[DiMethyl-[4-(4-Methyl-piperazin-1-yl)-phenyl]-silanyl]-phenyl)-Methanol is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist with agonistic activity. It is used as a modulator of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor to treat psychiatric and neurological disorders, including schizophrenia, depression, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. (2-[DiMethyl-[4-(4-Methyl-piperazin-1-yl)-phenyl]-silanyl]-phenyl)-Methanol has been shown to be antagonistic to the acetylcholine receptor in vitro. This compound binds to the acetylcholine receptor by competitive inhibition and causes an increase in the frequency of excitatory postsynaptic potentials.
