Description:
2,8-DimethylQuinoline is a demethylating agent that can be used in the synthesis of anilines. It is also used as a reagent for the reduction of ketones and nitro groups. 2,8-DimethylQuinoline has been shown to catalyze the reaction between trifluoroacetic acid and dimethyl fumarate to form methylated anilines. This compound has two geometric isomers, which are produced by uv irradiation or through different synthetic routes. These two isomers are reactive and catalytic.
