Product Information
- 6,7-Difluoro-Quinolin
6,7-DifluoroQuinoline is a synthetic molecule that has been used in assays to measure the ability of DNA repair enzymes to repair damage caused by hydrochloric acid. The compound is also being investigated for its ability to inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. It is believed that 6,7-difluoroquinoline may be an effective antibiotic against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and other bacteria. 6,7-Difluoroquinoline inhibits the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which prevents it from unwinding the double helix of the bacterial chromosome so that it can be copied. This inhibition causes mispairing of nucleotides during replication, leading to errors in the newly synthesized DNA strand.
