Description:
1,5-DichloRopentan-3-one is a polymerizable compound that has shown inhibitory effect on the replication of many viruses. It is soluble in organic solvents and can be used to prepare polymeric matrices for drug delivery. The compound has a carboxylate group that can form salts with metal ions. This property makes it useful in combination preparations with other drugs that are not soluble in water. 1,5-DichloRopentan-3-one also inhibits the replication of HIV and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV2).
