Description

N-(2,2-Dimethoxyethyl)-2-methylpropenamide is a monomer that belongs to the class of vinyl alcohols. It forms crosslinkable polymers in the presence of crosslinkers, such as divinylbenzene. This monomer may be polymerized with other vinyl monomers, such as 2-vinylpyridine and 2-vinylpyrrolidone, to form polyvinyl. N-(2,2-Dimethoxyethyl)-2-methylpropenamide can also be used for hydrophilizing silicone rubber or c-reactive protein. It has been shown to have an optical rotation between -1° and +1° and is soluble in many organic solvents.
