Description:
2,2-Dimethyl cyclopropyl carboxylic acid is an efficient method that can be used to determine the purity of a sample. It consists of a nonpolar solvent in which the analyte is dissolved and then reacted with an alkylthio group or pyrethroid. The product of this reaction is then analyzed by liquid chromatography and quantified using ultraviolet light. This test can be used for determining the purity of medicines containing chloride, acylation reactions, hydroxy groups, and alcohol residues. This method should not be used for samples containing sulfoxide or hexane because these compounds interfere with the test results.
