2-Dicyclohexylphosphino-2'-methylbiphenyl is a palladium catalyst for coupling reactions. It is used in organic synthesis and as an inhibitor of gene expression. The compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of the target gene by binding to its promoter region and preventing RNA polymerase from transcribing mRNA, which leads to decreased protein levels. This substance also inhibits the growth of mammalian cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of growth regulators such as prostaglandins. 2-Dicyclohexylphosphino-2'-methylbiphenyl has been shown to have a high reaction yield when thermally decomposing at elevated temperatures.
