Description:

2,6-Dichlorotoluene is a chlorine compound that consists of a carbon and six chlorine atoms. The compound is synthesized by the Friedel-Crafts reaction between phosphorus pentachloride and hydrochloric acid. The product of this reaction is converted to 2,6-dichlorotoluene by adding water and chlorinating with hydrogen chloride gas. 2,6-Dichlorotoluene can be used for the synthesis of diazonium salts in the diazonium salt-halogen exchange reaction. This chemical has been shown to have synergistic effects when used with other chemicals such as potassium permanganate.
