Product Information

Name:
4,6-Dichloronicotinonitrile
Synonyms:
  • 3-Pyridinecarbonitrile, 4,6-dichloro-
Description:

4,6-Dichloronicotinonitrile (4,6-DCN) is a nucleophilic compound that is used to synthesize aminoarenes. 4,6-DCN reacts with phosphorus oxychloride in the presence of a condensing agent such as dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) to form an intermediate that can be coupled with a variety of nucleophiles. The regioselectivity of this reaction depends on the type of nucleophile and the substituents on the aromatic ring. The reactivity of 4,6-DCN is enhanced by addition of an electron-withdrawing group on the aromatic ring.
