2,2-Diethoxy-N,N-dimethylethylamine is an aromatic hydrocarbon found in coal tar that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It is also a precursor to 2,2'-dithiole-3,3'-disulfonic acid. This latter compound has shown anti-tumor effects and may be useful as a chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of cancer.
2,2-Diethoxy-N,N-dimethylethylamine has been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor (EGF), which leads to decreased production of new skin cells. It also inhibits tyrosine kinase activity and may be used in the treatment of psoriasis.
