Description

1,2-Dimethylpropylamine is a colorless liquid with a fishy odor. It is an isomer of 1,2-dimethoxyethane and can be used for the synthesis of asymmetric compounds. Dimethylpropylamine has two structural isomers that are mirror images of each other. The individual isomers can be separated by distillation or crystallization. The different isomers show different physical properties, such as boiling point, melting point, solubility, and density. Dimethylpropylamine reacts with ethylene diamine to form the corresponding amines in high yields.
