L-2,4-Dimethylphenylalanine is a peptide that has been shown to be a selective agonist at the oxytocin receptor. It binds with high affinity and selectivity and has been shown to have pharmacological activity in rat liver plasma membranes. L-2,4-Dimethylphenylalanine was also able to inhibit the binding of bradykinin to its receptor. This peptide has been shown to have good bioavailability and potency, making it a promising drug candidate for treatment of hypertension, acute renal failure, or other conditions involving kidney dysfunction.
